Cabo Verdeans United Organization Cancels Gala to Support Unified Tubarões Azuis Celebration

​

Rhode Island, Massachusetts, Connecticut – 05/14/2026 - Cabo Verdeans United Organization (CVU) has announced the cancellation of its June 7, 2026 Tubarões Azuis Celebration Gala. Full refunds will be automatically issued to gala sponsors and ticket holders.

​

CVU has decided to support a larger and free community celebration hosted by the City of Pawtucket in collaboration with the Cape Verdean Football Federation on Sunday, June 7, 2026. 

​

In the spirit of unity, CVU will instead host a VIP cocktail reception with the Tubarões Azuis Team, Coaches and Leadership team, at the Rhode Island Football Club (newly built soccer stadium) venue in Pawtucket, RI from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM on June 7, 2026.  VIP tickets can be purchased at CVU website.

Although this was not our original plan, CVU is proud to support a unified celebration that brings our entire community together in honor of the Team and this historic moment,” said Genie Lomba, President of CVU.
